Abstract	The report describes a series of tests conducted as part of the development of the Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BARTD) system. The subject tests were performed primarily to evaluate rail fasteners and to determine their suitability for use on concrete aerial structures of advanced design. Specifically, the fasteners were evaluated in terms of their ability to maintain electrical isolation, reduce noise levels, and provide the safest and most economical system of hardware available. Upon completion of initial investigations, a totally new concept in the installation of rail fasteners and associated hardware on concrete aerial structures was tested. Aditionally, several types of concrete tie were evaluated for performance under the conditions imposed by the selected BARTD system. (Author)
