Cutaneous Carcinogenicity Study with Mice on the Diglycidyl Ether of 1,4-butane Diol with Attachments and Cover Letter dated 09/28/1987.

OTS0513957

Publication Date 1987
Page Count 53
Abstract Dermal carcinogenicity was evaluated in groups of male and female CF1 mice (50/sex/group) receiving applications (volume not reported) of 0.05% or 0.2% (based on preliminary studies) 1,4-butanediol diglycidyl ether in acetone twice weekly to the dorsal skin for 103 weeks. Of all animals in both dose groups, 5 animals developed 6 neoplasms of the skin and subcutis; 1 control animal developed a tumor. A transient irritant reaction was observed in 37 animals with no thickening of the epidermis. A statistically significant increase in neoplasms of the treated skin was not observed.
