Publication Date 1985

Abstract Effective May 1, 1985 Mobil Chemical's Industrial Chemicals Group was acquired by Albright & Wilson, LTD, London, England. We will be operating in the United States as Albright & Wilson Inc., headquartered in Richmond, Virginia. As Albright & Wilson Inc. we would like to continue in the response to EPA's practice of soliciting health and environmental safety information for compiling CHIP's on industrial chemicals and per Dr. J.D. Behun's phone discussion with your Dr. Al Wiebow, we are providing the following information on DMHP: (1) Summary of work and area DMHP exposure monitoring data at Albright & Wilson Inc.'s production plant in Charleston, South Carolina. The data show average and maximum 8-hour TWA personal sample values well below our interim standard of 2.0 ppm; (2) Copies of Notices to DMHP workers and customers regarding the NTP test results and calling attention to precautions prescribed in our Materials Safety Data Bulletin and our suggested exposure limit of 2 ppm. Also, included is a similar notice to customers of trimethyl phospite (TMP), which upon hydrolysis produces DMHP, along with product bulletin statements for TMP and DMHP advising of the results of the NTP study; (3) Copies of our Material Safety Data Bulletins on DMHP and TMP summarizing physical-chemical data, precautionary information, and known toxicology and epidemiology information; (4) Copies of earlier correspondence with EPA transmitting a TSCA Section 8(e) report and follow-up information.
