Abstract	An engine health monitoring system with built-in flexibility to allow the user to select functions required to suit operation, from the extreme of simple trending of cockpit parameters with or without alert message generation, through to full modular performance analysis and mechanical analysis with or without alert message generation is described. It consists of three modules: a analysis module where all calculations for the performance and mechanical functions take place; a trend module where data input to and output from the analysis module can be processed through a smoothing/trending routine to produce alert messages if changes outside predetermined limits in terms of levels, steps, and trends are detected; and a display module to enable all information within the data bases to be output onto a screen or printer in semigraphical, tabular, bar chart, or snapshot format.
