Abstract	The organization of the French program is described together with the way in which different tasks are assigned. The main sectors of activity are: astronomy and solar physics; the solar system; physics of the ionosphere and the magnetosphere; aeronomy; meteorology; Earth resources; and space geodesy and geodynamics, space biology and medicine. The specific activities pursued by the different laboratories, organizations, and working groups in the framework of these sectors of activity are described.
