Abstract The synthesizing process of trinitro chlorobenzene (TNCB) was modified by: (1) altering the composition of the original products and improving their purity; (2) adapting the process for production in the kilogram range rather than the gram range; and (3) analyzing the impurities of the end product. Optimal conditions for the reaction are discussed. Hydrolysis sensitivity and behavior with aluminum powder are analyzed.
