National Technical Reports Library

The National Technical Information Service acquires, indexes, abstracts, and archives the largest collection of U.S. government-sponsored technical reports in existence. The NTRL offers online, free and open access to these authenticated government technical reports. Technical reports and documents in its repository may be available online for free either from the issuing federal agency, the U.S. Government Publishing Office’s Federal Digital System website, or through search engines.

Publication Date 2001
Personal Author Mariner, P.
Page Count 84
Abstract The objective and scope of this calculation is to assist Performance Assessment Operations and the Engineered Barrier System (EBS) Department in modeling the geochemical effects of evaporation within a repository drift. This work is developed and documented using procedure AP-3.12Q, Calculations, in support of 'Technical Work Plan For Engineered Barrier System Department Modeling and Testing FY 02 Work Activities' (BSC 2001a). The primary objective of this calculation is to predict the effects of evaporation on the abstracted water compositions established in 'EBS Incoming Water and Gas Composition Abstraction Calculations for Different Drift Temperature Environments' (BSC 2001c). A secondary objective is to predict evaporation effects on observed Yucca Mountain waters for subsequent cement interaction calculations (BSC 2001d). The Precipitates/Salts model is documented in an Analysis/Model Report (AMR), 'In-Drift Precipitates/Salts Analysis'.
