Abstract |
Researchers at the Savannah River Technology Center (SRTC) successfully demonstrated the chemistry of the Caustic-Side Solvent Extraction (CSSX) flow sheet for the decontamination of high level waste using an optimized solvent in a 33-stage, 2-cm centrifugal contactor apparatus. This represents the second CSSX process demonstration using Savannah River Site (SRS) high level waste (HLW). Three tests were performed using radioactively 'spiked' simulated Tank 37H/44F composite waste, and a 24-hour demonstration was performed using actual Tank 37H/44F composite HLW supernate. |
