Abstract The River Protection Project (RPP) mission includes storage, retrieval, immobilization, and disposal of radioactive mixed waste presently stored in 177 underground tanks located in the 200 East and 200 West Areas of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Hanford Site. The principal regulatory requirements for the SST farms are Washington State Hazardous Waste Management Act (HWMA) and WAC 173-303. This document deals directly with milestone M-23-22-TO1, Submit Document Identifying and Describing DOES Existing SST In-Tank Surveillance and Monitoring Program. The M-23 milestone series was signed on August 7,2001, and the deadline for this specific deliverable is February 28,2002. Milestone M-23-22-TO1 deals only with SST surveillance and monitoring functions during storage, and specifically excludes other SST functions such as retrieval.
