Abstract Maine price trends for No. 2 were flat and lower than last year. Heating oil price averages stayed within a ten cent range of the starting price of $1.20 per gallon for the whole season. The statewide average price for heating oil for the 2001-2002 heating season was $1.13 per gallon which is roughly thirty-three cents lower than last year's annual average of $1.46 per gallon. During most of the mid-winter prices hovered at $1.10 or $1.1l/gallon for weeks at a time. The annual price average for 2001-2002 is much more in line with the price average of $l.l7/gallon experienced during the 1999-2000 season.
