Abstract In late 1997, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) established the Groundwater/Vadose Zone Integration Project (Integration Project). One activity of the Integration Project is an assessment of cumulative impacts for Hanford Site wastes on the subsurface environment and the Columbia River. Through the application of a system assessment capability (SAC), decisions for each cleanup and disposal action will be able to take into account the composite effect of other cleanup and disposal actions.
