Abstract	The development of stable isobutyl methacrylate-methacrylic acid interpolymer thickened gasoline gels is reviewed. Laboratory formulation studies on the effect of the nature and the concentration of the polymer, the gelation agent, the soap forming acids, and the fuel composition are described. The evaluation of representative gels as the fillings for large incendiaries are discussed. A soap-free gel containing 3 to 6 percent of an interpolymer prepared from isobutyl; methacrylate with 0.3 percent methacrylic acid, 20 percent toluene, 1 percent of 40 percent aqueous NaOH, and from 76 to 73 percent gasoline gave best results in firing tests in the M-47 and E-9 incendiary bombs. Such a gel has high strength, a rapid burning rate, and a high fuel content.
