Abstract	An investigation was carried out to determine the quality of Napalm thickener and the effect of gasoline quality, moisture content of the soap, and thickener concentration on the properties of Napalm thickened fuels. The majority of thickeners received were of uniform quality, 70% giving 8% gels having consistencies between 600 and 750 grams Gardner. Cyclic hydrocarbons tended to give high consistencies while the paraffin, n-heptane, gave the lowest consistency values. The majority of Napalm thickener samples were employed at lowest consistency values, e.g., 4% by weight, yielded fuels which tended to decrease in consistency aging. Considering the variation in thickener and gasoline qualities and the curing effect, the ratio of the maximum to minimum consistency values was found to be about 1.7:1 for fuels containing 12% of the thickener and 10:1 for low (4%) concentration fuels.
