Abstract |
This report describes efforts to detect EA 2192, S-2- (DIISOPROPYLAMINO)ETHYL methylphosphonothioic acid, in aqueous solutions below the drinking water standard level of 20 ppb. LC/MS electrospray ionization and tandem MS detection using a parent ion of 240 m/z and a product ion of 128 m/z were applied to obtain the desired analytical sensitivity, selectivity, and reproducibility. From replicate analyses of a 10-ppb standard, a method detection limit (MDL) of 1-2 ppb in water was obtained. The method was also applied to EA 2192 detection in aqueous charcoal extract with similar results. Additional sample cleanup to remove interference is required, however, before the method can be applied to more complex decontamination matrices. |
