Abstract Three of five observers of a light in the night sky that was actually moving continuously along a linear course reported it as stationary as long as the light was on. This phenomenon, 'autostasis,' seems to be opposite to the well-known phenomenon of autokinesis, or apparent motion of an actually stationary light in an undifferentiated field. (Author)
